A hospital doctor and third-generation beekeeper, Matt Edmondson grew up learning beekeeping from his grandfather. Years later, working as a doctor, he began to see the hive through a clinician’s lens. BeeVue was created at that intersection, shaping practical, innovative tools for hive inspection and monitoring that support healthier colonies and more confident beekeepers.
BeeVue was shaped around two simple principles.
That every product should deliver meaningful, high-quality information to benefit both bees and beekeepers.
And that we should tread lightly — minimising disruption to the colony while we care for it.
Operating from Devon in the beautiful South West of England, we like to keep things local and source UK based materials whenever we can.
Our work is dedicated to supporting the health and sustainability of honeybee populations. To ensure our efforts are effective, we are committed to research and actively seek collaboration with academic and technical partners.
BeeVue is currently supported through UK Research and Innovation’s BridgeAI programme, following a successful award, as we begin exploring how computer vision and machine learning can be applied to hive inspection footage to inform future development.
